It’s on: Clinton, Sanders to debate in NH Thursday

“I didn’t know, to be honest, I wasn’t – I wasn’t committed to running”, Clinton said, uncharacteristically tripping over her words.

“That being said, we are working with all campaigns on individual concerns they are bringing to us, and addressing them on a case-by-case basis”.

“If Bernie starts to go deep into these contests with Clinton and starts to create a real existential threat to her campaign, that puts those delegates even more into play”. “Because if it’s about our records, hey, I’m going to win by a landslide”.

Clinton officials have sought to temper New Hampshire expectations for months, downplaying the significance of a win here as they look to states where she’s stronger, such as Nevada and SC.

Hillary Clinton has an uphill road in New Hampshire. “I plead guilty”, she told the crowd in Columbus.

And in one of the more revealing exchanges of the night, Cooper asked Clinton what would be wrong with the so-called “political revolution” that Sanders frequent calls for.

Clinton delivered an uneven performance at the event, sounding confident on policy answers and connecting with the audience when she shared moments from her personal life but stumbling on topics that have dogged her throughout the campaign, including her vote on the Iraq War and her relationship with Wall Street. “We will continue to push for a debate in New York City”.

On Wednesday morning, Sanders said he would attend Thursday’s debate, and the Democratic National Committee confirmed that it had sanctioned it. Jeanne Shaheen and Rep. Annie Kuster, the three top Democratic women in New Hampshire politics.

Not so Emma Groenewal, who at 15 is too young to vote but canvasses for Clinton.

“I know that they tend to favor their neighbors”, she said on CNN’s “Situation Room” this week.

Clinton moved quickly to defend her record, saying that under Sanders’ criteria President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden and even the deceased Minnesota Sen.

But she stressed her commitment to campaigning in New Hampshire, while acknowledging that Sanders is leading the polls. In Iowa, Sanders won 84 percent of voters under age 30 and 58 percent of those aged 30-44 according to entrance polls.

“I am not going to say longshot”, Shumaker said of Clinton’s bid in New Hampshire, “but (it) is certainly uphill”. But as much as Sanders doesn’t like the Republican’s agenda, the senator said he would delight in taking him on in November.

“He says he’s a socialist, and the country’s not ready for that”, she said.

The confusion is partially due to problems endemic in the way the Democratic party runs the Iowa caucuses, the editorial noted, and recommended that the party take steps “to improve the caucuses, as the Republican Party of Iowa did after its own fiasco in 2012”.

While Sanders hasn’t attacked Clinton on her email use, he has repeatedly cited her donations from Wall Street.
