Officials say the bodies showed early stages of trauma, and they say they believe the people were victims of homicide.

The bodies were found in the 5700 block of South California Avenue at 1:05 p.m. while officers were conducting a well-being check, police said. However, a relative identifies the victims as the Martinez family: a husband and wife in their 60s, their son, daughter, and the daughter’s two children.

The bodies of five adults and one child were found at a home on Chicago’s Southwest Side Thursday afternoon, according to police.

They have not determined the cause of death.

“Everything was closed up tight”, Williams, who has lived directly next door for three years, said. She was just telling me things about her life and how she had been.

Police say there is no known threat to the public. One of the victims was her friend, the police confirmed to her.

“Never had any problems”, she said. Please see our terms of service for more information.

The block is lined with bungalows, a lot of them red brick. “They were then able to make entry into this residence”. “We haven’t ruled out anything at this point”.
