Amazon Echo will now request an Uber too
The price would likely be less than the $180 asking price of the standard-sized Amazon Echo.

Domino’s Pizza is bringing its fan-favorite Domino’s Tracker and ordering capabilities to Amazon Echo, just in time for the big game on February 7. Echo uses Alexa Voice Service, a Siri or Cortana-esque AI that responds to your voice and can tell you the weather, mark calendar dates, wake you up and more, most importantly playing music.
The option allows you to speak your request more generally, by saying something like “Alexa, ask Uber to request a ride”, for example, or “Alexa, ask Uber to get me a vehicle”, or even, “Alexa, order me an Uber”. This week we’ve seen it gain the ability to order pizza from Domino’s as well as play music via Spotify Connect. Uber is announcing Friday that its application program interface, or API, has been integrated with Amazon’s smart home hub.
Amazon also notes that this feature will be available via Alexa on Fire TV as well as Echo, which is not the case with all of Alexa’s “Skills”. Alexa will also reportedly accept more generic commands such as “Get me a taxi” or “Call me a ride”, since the device will associate taxis and rides specifically with Uber as a result of the new integration. You’ll first need to make sure Alexa knows your address. This way you don’t need to pick up your phone to order your Uber, just use your voice.

The subscription service, requested by Echo users, joins other cloud-based music services accessed by the tube-shaped speaker via Wi-Fi. It’ll be interesting to see what Amazon adds next to the Echo, perhaps the ability to get you coffee in the morning. You can set this in the Alexa app under Settings Echo Edit next to Device Location.
