A hungry seal lion walks into a restaurant…

An 8-month-old female California sea lion pup was found sleeping in a booth in the dining room of the iconic Marine Room restaurant in La Jolla on Thursday, Feb. 4.
“He was a little bit early for his high tide breakfast reservation”, Guillas joked on Facebook.
“They also sent us pictures and we were surprised to see a really young sea lion pup that had actually spent the night in this booth at the restaurant”.
Jody Westberg of Sea World said this call was definitely unique, but not surprising considering the recent weather in the area.
The pup got a nice meal right away and will be protected until its weight rebounds.
SeaWorld San Diego said the animal was in poor health.
The pup is 8 months old and weighs only 20 pounds, less than half the normal size for its age, Koontz said. The sea lion is the 47th the company says it has rescued this year, along with other marine mammals.
Animal care staff started her on fluids.
El Niño and high tides are leaving many California sea lions stranded on beaches, making it nearly impossible for them to find food.

“SeaWorld is cautiously optimistic about the sea lion’s recovery, hoping she can be rehabilitated, returned to the wild and given a second chance at life”, the park said.
