Bruce Springsteen to play Croke Park concert in May

Bruce Springsteen and The E Street band will play Croke Park for the first time on Friday, May 27. If the first concert sells out, a second date – Sunday, May 29 – will be added.

Should those gigs go ahead, it would necessitate moving the Leinster Football Championship clash of Wexford and Kildare and the Leinster Hurling Championship meeting of Dublin and Wexford, both of which are scheduled to go ahead on Sunday, 29 May.

Dublin’s game against Wexford has been brought forward by a week as a result and will now take place on Saturday, May 21st at Croke Park.

The news was confirmed on Thursday, with tickets on sale from Ticketmaster on 11 February at 9am.

Official prices for tickets have yet to be confirmed but they are likely to range from €65.45 for seated, €98.50 for standing and up to €131 for other areas in addition to a service charge. But local people are determined there will be no repeat of the farcical Garth Brooks controversy that erupted two years ago, which ended when the country singer’s concerts were cancelled.
