The SUV Muzzo was driving was travelling 85 kilometres an hour when it drove through a stop sign and struck the Neville-Lakes’s minivan.

An officer who responded to the scene observed Muzzo was “was unsteady on his feet, he had glossy eyes, he attempted to use people to use his balance, he urinated himself, he was having a hard time comprehending direction and he had the smell of an alcoholic beverage emanating from his breath”. Muzzo elected to be tried by a judge without a jury.

He is due back in court for sentencing on February 23 and possibly February 24.

The Crown said it was agreeing with the release considering his medical issues and the fact that he will be taken back into custody before he serves his sentence.

Payment of $1 million in bail.

He is not allowed to drink, drive or approach the Neville-Lakes.

He must not apply for travel documents.

He must abstain from alcohol and live with his mother.

His surety will be his mother, Dawn, and Richard and Diña Hampton, who are the parents of his fiancé.

While out on bail Muzzo will be required to adhere to a long list of conditions set by the court.

Daniel, the oldest of her three children, would have turned 10 Wednesday, Neville-Lake said while holding up a school portrait of the boy taken just two days before his death.

Muzzo’s late grandfather, Marco Muzzo Sr., founded construction and development businesses worth more than $1 billion combined. He didn’t look at his family as he sat in the prisoner’s box.

29-year old, Marco Muzzo nodded and quietly agreed when he was asked if he understood the consequences of his plea.

Court heard Muzzo got off a private jet after his bachelor party in Miami on September 27 in Toronto.

He picked up his Jeep from the airport parking lot and drove off, court heard.
