James Franco set to direct ‘Zola’ story

The Zola Twitter story about a wild road trip to Florida that went viral late a year ago is in development to be turned into a feature film which actor James Franco will direct. According to Variety, James Franco, Andrew Neel and Killer Films are developing the film version of the account. Let’s hope Zola gets the story credit she deserves. “So I met this white b***h at Hooters…”

Other people present and who witnessed some of the events maintain that Wells embellished parts of the story for dramatic effect, but the saga drew praise from directors such as Ava DuVernay who applauded her story-telling ability.

Producers are Franco and Vince Jolivette of Rabbit Bandini; Killer Films’ Christine Vachon and David Hinojosa; and Gigi Films’ Gia Walsh and KAra Baker.

Remember when Twitter user Zola Moon used the social media website to recount a series of risky escapades about prostitution, stripping, murder and robbery?

In her spare time, she enjoys live-tweeting, reading, writing, and spending time with her beagle Brandy. Kushner said the script “reads like ‘Spring Breakers’ meets ‘Pulp Fiction’, as told by Nicki Minaj”; so, basically, what we’re working with here is a cult classic in the making.

Kushner’s piece confirmed there was indeed a trip to Florida, as well as some of the more disturbing elements of the tale: the man whom Zola called “Z” is Akporode “Rudy” Uwedjojevwe, 35; he’s been charged with sexual assault, sex trafficking, battery, and attempted pandering.
