Verizon gives its prepaid offerings a data boost

Verizon Wireless has revealed that its prepaid plans will offer subscribers more mobile data, with zero additional cost. On the heels of Virgin Mobile’s prepaid announcement through Sprint, Verizon is giving their prepaid customers a little something extra. In an attempt to compete with T-Mobile – who’s consistently been turning flipping the script when it comes to wireless data – is Verizon of all carriers.

With Verizon prepaid, your options are now $45 for 2GB of data or $60 for 5GB of data per month. That includes free talk and text throughout the states, and free texting to folks in Mexico and Canada. You can get a 1GB boost for enabling auto-pay. For $5, you receive 500 MB, $10 get you 1 GB and $20 pours an extra 3 GB of data into your handset.

Verizon certainly isn’t known as a budget offering, and while it isn’t the cheapest option in the prepaid world either, it does retain a network advantage in many areas of the country.
