The 2016 Pro Bowl is set to begin on Sunday night at Aloha Stadium in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The game was again unconferenced with rules restricting blitzes and rushes on special teams.

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, right, signs autographs for his fans during the NFL Pro Bowl Football Draft show at the Wheeler Army Airfield, Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2016, in Wahiawa, Hawaii.

In his two Pro Bowl appearances, the veteran signal caller now has 262 yards and six touchdowns while accumulating a 151.9 passer rating.

Of course, superstar quarterbacks Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos and Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers will be absent because their teams will meet on February 7 in the Super Bowl. Hopkins got Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters to bite on a double move and Wilson had plenty of time to throw as the defensive linemen went at half-speed.

Wilson will have an array of talent to target in the game today, with receivers Julio Jones, A.J. Green, DeAndre Hopkins and Allen Robinson all joining Team Irvin.

With 7:59 left in the first quarter and after a failed two-point conversion pass, Team Irvin cut Team Rice’s lead to 7-6.

For Team Rice, running back Adrian Peterson played sparingly and collected just four yards on five carries on the evening.

The 2016 Pro Bowl features team Jerry Rice against team Michael Irvin, as well as some of the best players in the league. Rams punter Johnny Hekker prevented a three-and-out in the second quarter by completing a 10-yard pass to Seahawks receiver Tyler Lockett on fourth-and-8.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: Team Rice cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie on playing against his New York Giants’ teammates quarterback Eli Manning, wide receiver Odell Beckham and kicker Josh Brown, all of whom are on Team Irvin.

Wilson was the lone quarterback originally selected to participate in the game.

Team Irvin made it a three-touchdown game on a 51-yard scoring pass from Winston to Tennessee tight end Delanie Walker.

The reason is that a record number of Pro Bowl players bowed out of the game this year for one reason or another – including all seven members of the New England Patriots who were picked for the game.

San Francisco 49ers linebacker NaVorro Bowman, Dallas Cowboys linebacker Sean Lee, Titans defensive end Jurrell Casey and Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith had interceptions for opportunistic Team Irvin.
