There’s about to be a liberal dose of Bernie Sanders on this week’s “Saturday Night Live“.

Both the writers and David wanted him to play Sanders, but David beat them to the punch and reached out to show-runner Lorne Michaels.

“I am Larry David“, he responded.

The episode is being hosted by comedian Larry David, who has drawn rave reviews in his portrayal of the Vermont senator.

Meyers moved on to ask Jost about his thoughts on Donald Trump placing second in Iowa.

“It may have just proven that he’s not Mike Huckabee and Rick Santorum, which might ultimately be a good thing”, said Jost, referencing the last two GOP contenders to win in the Hawkeye State.

David, the star of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and creator of “Seinfeld”, began impersonating Sanders earlier this season.

Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders will appear with comedian Larry David on “Saturday Night Live” this weekend, according to several media outlets.
