Twitter has just tested a dedicated GIF button on its mobile app
The social network hasn’t formally announced the feature, but a quick search for “GIF button” on there reveals that dozens of users have received it, Digital Spy said. He shared with TechCrunch that tapping it opened a selection of GIFs to choose from, including those that are now trending, or based on mood categories.

Rumor has it that Twitter is testing a potential GIF button on its mobile platform. The button has mysteriously disappeared from the app, but not before Pearlman got a chance to take some screenshots.
On Wednesday night, Twitter made its GIF button available to a select group of users.
When we reached out to the company for comment, though, it provided us with the following response. With GIFs gaining such traction in social media, the 140-character platform might as well take it to the next level.
Twitter has been rolling out a handful of new features over the last several months as part of its quest to attract new users and increase user engagement.
While not much is known about Twitter’s plans right now, they’ll presumably match services like GroupMe, Kik and Facebook Messenger with the ability to connect third-party apps, so you could eventually be positng GIFs from Giphy’s vast collection.

However, GIFs also potentially holds commercial value for companies to promote their brands and products. However, which partner Twitter will go with is yet unknown.
