The WHO has called for an improvement in the detection of Zika infections and to speed up the development of a vaccine to protect pregnant women, who are at high risk.

“At the present, there is no new reported case of Zika virus in Cambodia; however, we need to take precautious measures to prevent the transmission of the virus”, Rekol said.

It said the woman was in good condition but had no details about the condition of her unborn child.

“Although Florida’s current nine Zika cases were travel-related, we have to ensure Florida is prepared and stays ahead of the spread of the Zika virus in our state”, Gov. Scott said in a statement. “It is of concern to us because it is primarily spread by mosquitoes, not the ones that spread malaria but another type which we also have in Ghana and because it was discovered in Africa, the mode of transmission is here and we are potentially at risk”.

Union leader Sandro Cezar said Thursday that the organization chose to cancel the planned stoppage because it doesn’t want to affect the Brazilian people.

Although Tuesday’s report of a sexual transmission in Dallas adds to evidence that bodily fluids might also transmit the disease, scientists and public health authorities said far more research is needed to determine how much sexual contact might be needed for contagion.

There has been one case of Zika reported in L.A. And given our pathways to Latin America, it shouldn’t surprise anyone if there are more. But what is alarming people in Brazil, where the disease is most prevalent in the north-east of the country, is a possible link between Zika infection and a foetal malformation known as microcephaly, a condition that causes brain damage and unusually small heads in babies.

But the Texas case has spurred more discussion about additional ways in which Zika and other illnesses, commonly thought to be carried only by mosquitoes, might be spread. An investigation concluded the person caught the virus through sex with a person who had recently returned from Venezuela, where Zika infections have been growing.

Health officials warned pregnant women to avoid or postpone travel to those areas.
