US presidential hopefuls Sanders, Clinton in dead heat – Reuters/Ipsos poll
It’s a code that Bernie Sanders has expressly vowed to stick to for the entirety of the presidential race and a cause that Hillary Clinton has supported in steering full attention to the real issues of the race. “Bernie Sanders closes a 31-point gap to tie Secretary Hillary Clinton”, said Tim Malloy, the assistant director of the Quinnipiac University Poll, in a statement.

Clinton and her aides have dismissed polls showing a significant lead for Sanders, a US senator from Vermont, as typical of New Hampshire’s history of affinity for candidates from neighboring states.
“And I just absolutely reject that, Senator”, she said.
Clinton also took issue with Sanders referring to her as “establishment”, suggesting that’s not possible because she’s a woman running for president.
“Clinton’s fiery performance was a manifestation of the frustration growing inside her campaign for weeks”.
“I am very proud to be the only candidate up here who does not have a super PAC, who’s not raising huge sums from Wall Street and special interests”, he said. I’m exhausted of the attacks on Hillary Clinton’s integrity.
At a town hall hosted by CNN on Wednesday Clinton fumbled a response to questions about $675,000 she was paid to speak at an event for Goldman Sachs, the investment bank. Some commentators have said Sanders is making a mistake in not exploiting the FBI investigation into Clinton’s email arrangement for his own political ends.
Clinton and Sanders now stand at 44 to 42 percent, according to the Quinnipiac University poll of registered voters, revealing a drastic shift since December 22 when the pair stood at 61 and 30 percent respectively. “Once again, back in 2002, when we both looked at the same evidence about the wisdom of the war in Iraq, one of us voted the right way and one of us didn’t”, he said. “Enough is enough”, Clinton said. “They basically said, ‘Yep, didn’t get her, we tried.’ It was all a political ploy”. Their final debate before the New Hampshire Primary is Saturday night on ABC.
Sanders allowed that while Clinton had been secretary of state, “experience is not the only point”.
With Martin O’Malley having formally stepped out of the race following a significant loss in the Iowa Caucuses, the floor was taken by the two front-runners remaining: Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders. Throughout the evening, Clinton had been setting up the moment by chipping away at Sanders’ credibility as a candidate, without saying it head on.
The candidates also battled over what it means to be “progressive”. But it’s important to keep in mind that the United States does not vote for presidential nominees in a national contest, but rather state-by-state, and Clinton holds significant leads in upcoming primaries in Florida and SC that could reinvigorate her supporters.
“Now all the ideas that I’m talking about, they are not radical ideas. A lot of disappointment”, she said.
