Guus Hiddink: John Terry could stay at Chelsea

The 35-year-old, who has made 696 appearances so far for the Blues, had been hoping to secure a 12-month extension but was informed by the club of their decision before last week’s win at Arsenal. The club will move on.

Rolls told Press Association Sport: “It seems a very unusual thing to do from the club’s point of view, when one of the big issues for Chelsea is lack of leaders on the pitch”. No doubt they ll sign one or two great centre-backs.

Chelsea captain John Terry has revealed he will be leaving Stamford Bridge after the club decided not to renew his contract.

“I want to come back as a Chelsea supporter in years to come with my kids and see the team doing great”.

A key figure in their charge to Premier League title glory last season, he remains a first-choice selection this term, and Hiddink agrees that his captain remains a Premier League-calibre performer.

“100 per cent is hard to say, but 99 per cent sure, yes”, he said of any deadline day recruitment.

Speaking after the MK Dons win but before Terry told reporters about his own future, Cahill said: “I did have a good chat with [Hiddink]”.

The Telegraph reported that Terry dropped the bomb on Chelsea officials before the team’s 1-0 victory over Arsenal on January 24, saying that “it’s not going to be a fairytale ending, I’m not going to retire at Chelsea”.

“John is very fit and is not what you normally see in the 35 to 36-year-old player”.

According to the Mirror Sport, another Chelsea legend Gianfranco is believed to have been in touch with Terry over his potential move to Qatar ahead of offers coming from the MLS and China.

“John requested a meeting with the club the week before last”, a Chelsea spokesperson said in a statement released by Talksport’s Ian Abrahams on Twitter.

Chelsea’s interim manager Guus Hiddink has said that John Terry may remain with the club beyond the end of the season.

“Unfortunately, it was a no. It took me a couple of days to get over”.

Chelsea, who are 13th in the standings but unbeaten in nine games in all competitions, will look to continue their climb up the league when they face 10th-placed Watford on Wednesday.

“No specific decision has been made yet”. I feel as though I’m in great nick, I’m playing great and I’ve got a couple of years to go.
