The aforementioned TV reboot is planned for CBS. If youre a fan of the 1980s action series MacGyver, you just won the reboot lottery, as hes getting both. Find out more about each of these new MacGyver incarnations below.
Made famous in the 1980s and early 90s, “MacGyver” starred Richard Dean Anderson as a secret agent armed only with his wits, craftsmanship, and a very practical understanding of scientific principles.
Regarding the television version, director James Wan (Furious 7, The Conjuring) has been chosen to direct the pilot of the show, with writer Paul Downs Colaizzo on script duties. The titular hero is mostly remembered for his uncanny ability to solve complex problems by using everyday objects (such as paper clips, and good old fashioned tape) and his trusty Swiss Army knife.
Lionsgate has plans to turn a ball of yarn, three matches, a bubble gum wrapper, and this nose hair into a MacGyver film. Admittedly, mining nostalgia for movies and TV is hardly new, but in the last few years there seems to have been a small frenzy about Mac and his adventures.
Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer announced the project while going over the studio’s quarterly earnings report with analysts today, reports Variety.
