None of the 75 players who made the cut finished the round, which was to resume this morning.
Jang, who was unable to tee off on Thursday before heavy rain halted play, fired a par-72 Friday morning to stand on seven-under par 137 after 36 holes at Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club course in Ocala, Florida.
Harukyo Nomura was a stroke behind the provisional leaders at the Coates Golf Championship on Friday, when play was suspended due to darkness.
Jang’s third round began with a birdie on the par-four opening hole, then she followed it up with a bogey on No. 2.
Kaufman was tied for third at six-under par through 12 holes, along with Jessica Korda, Lexi Thompson and Nomura. “Obviously, it’s not the best start of the day, but I had a nap and of got over it, and it definitely got much better. Not like we can play in really unsafe conditions”, she added.
Ko played with Morgan Pressel, who was 3 under, and Paula Creamer, who was even. They could tell storm clouds approaching and Creamer jokingly said that play would be stopped right before they finished.
“I struggled a little bit with my driver yesterday, but today I hit all the fairways so I was super happy with that”. The weather forecast predicted a 30 percent chance of rain and a high temperature in the 60s.
Rotorua’s Danny Lee is a shot off the lead in a share of second at the latest PGA Tour men’s tournament in Phoenix. First-round co-leaders Shane Lawry (70) and Hideki Matsuyama (70) were 7 under.
