So it makes some sense that MTV, gleaning that Cyrus has a knack for making good television, would ask her to… spend most of the telecast onstage.
The pop star made the announcement by posting this dual-image to all of her social media platforms.
After causing quite a stir at the VMAs two years ago, Miley Cyrus will be hosting this year’s show instead of performing. Besides Miley’s twerking, CNN reported that it was also during the VMAs when Kanye West interrupted Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech in 2009, and where Britney Spears and Madonna outraged audiences with a shared kiss in 2003.
We can only imagine the awesome antics she’ll pull this year. At the time, the former Disney star, clad in a flesh coloured latex bikini and waving a foam finger, grinded and twerked around “Blurred Lines” singer- Robin Thicke.
In the year 2014, she invited an unknown man, who was homeless, Jesse Helt to accept the trophy, “video of the year”. In a post from MTV, it was mentioned that in 2008, Cyrus was up for Best New Artist, competing against Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.
As for who will be up for an award on the night, the nominations are set to be announced later today (July 21) on Beats 1 radio at 3pm GMT, so watch this space!
The 2015 VMAs broadcast that will air on Sunday, August 30 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV from the Microsoft Theater, formerly Nokia Theatre L.A. Live.
