Bruno Mars back for Super Bowl halftime show

The R&B singer headlined the halftime show during Super Bowl XLVII in New Jersey in 2014, belting out hits like “Locked out of Heaven” And “Just the Way You Are”.

Beyoncé, who collaborated with Coldplay on the 2015 track “Hymn for the Weekend”, also previously performed at the Super Bowl in 2013.

Last month, director Hamish Hamilton told EW the halftime show would include a throwback to performances past. “It’s full of colour and pageantry, and it’s an unbelievable sort of spiritual home of music in England. We have to try to do what comes naturally to us, which is to try and provide a bit of fun and a great atmosphere for people to come and be together and be communal and enjoy the general experience”. “I think we’re going to try and celebrate those and hopefully make a show as memorable as some of our favorites”. “We think they’re all incredible”, the frontman said. “We wanted to bring that vibe to the Super Bowl halftime show”.

The halftime show stage is known for hosting high-profile collaborations.

The 30-year-old singer posted a picture of himself in Levi’s Stadium, San Francisco – where the 2016 Super Bowl will take place on Sunday (07.02.16) and wrote: “It ain’t a party if Mr $how Up & $how out doesn’t show up #confirmed (sic)”. Meanwhile, Lady Gaga will sing the USA national anthem before this year’s game, which will see Carolina Panthers and Denver Broncos battling to be named NFL champions on Sunday night.
