Browns Tired of Quarterback Johnny Manziel’s Antics

But the Browns will likely wait because Manziel’s remaining base salary guarantees (about $2.17 million) would accelerate onto the cap immediately, and they already rolled over all their unused space from 2015. Boyer replaces longtime National Football League assistant Bobby April, who was sacked by the Jets on January 6 and then hired by the Titans 10 days later to coordinate their special teams.

In an announcement that is hardly surprising at all, the Cleveland Browns are ready to cut quarterback Johnny Manziel.

Maybe Jerry Jones and the Dallas Cowboys will give him a call to go be Tony Romo’s backup this upcoming season after the Browns axe him, but at this point, do not expect Johnny Manziel to ever get his act together.

New executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown put Manziel on notice this afternoon with a succinct statement following his latest off-field incident over the weekend in Texas. “We will have no further comment at this time”.

The Browns may be hiding behind the league rules-and that’s fair, as they must honor those rules-but it’s not hard to read between the lines here.

When the 2016 NFL league year begins, Johnny Manziel will be a free agent.

The report says the Browns won’t release Manziel until March 9, due to salary cap implications.

Manziel is now under investigation by the Dallas and Fort Worth police departments for a possible assault of his ex girlfriend early Saturday morning.

In October, Manziel and his girlfriend were questioned by police near Cleveland after an argument took place in his vehicle on the highway. Once the new league year arrives, the Browns will be able to absorb the $4.624million it will cost them to waive Manziel, 23, a Heisman Trophy victor from Texas A&M.

Manziel spent roughly ten weeks in rehabilitation for an undisclosed reason last offseason. He started eight games and appeared in 15. On the field, he showed sparks of the playmaker that made him a first-round by the Browns. He was reportedly wearing a disguise and going under the alias “Billy” while clubbing in Las Vegas.

There is no doubt that will happen now. But multiple reports out of Cleveland indicate it’s only a matter of time until Manziel is gone.

The woman also told police that she had concerns of the well-being of Manziel.

Manziel’s future is unknown since its not clear if any team will sign him because the off the field issues don’t seem to be ending anytime soon.
