Korea informs ITU of advancing window for rocket launch

The foreign ministry spokesman also responded strongly after a journalist asked for a comment on U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Russel’s remarks that North Korea’s latest move is a “slap in the face” to those arguing for more sanctions.

“While we won’t discuss employment of our military assets, no one should doubt that U.S. Pacific Command forces, specifically U.S. Forces Korea, are prepared to protect the American homeland and defend our allies in South Korea, Japan, and the region”.

The new window, which was also narrowed, is February 7 – 14; the old window was February 8 – 25.

When the launch was originally announced, the U.S. Navy positioned a guided-missile destroyer based in Japan to shoot down the rocket if it is believed to be a threat.
