Thompson, Green Help Warriors Blow Out Knicks

The Knicks are expecting a better outcome after their 128-122 loss to the Thunder in their last matchup.

“If the gods delivered what should have happened, we probably should have lost because that’s what happens when you mess around with the game and the ball”, Warriors coach Steve Kerr said. The Warriors are still the odds-on favorites to lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy, and the Sixers are still the worst team in the league record-wise (although the Lakers will have something to say about that before the season ends).

It’s the Heat’s first four-game winning streak since superstar LeBron James headed back to Cleveland after the 2013-14 season.

But the Warriors still won big despite Curry going 3-for-11 from 3-point range. The Knicks have gone 23-26 Straight Up (SU) and 29-20 Against The Spread (ATS). Kristaps Porzingis tops in rebounds with 7.8 and in blocks with 1.9 per game. The one free throw made ties the lowest ever for an National Basketball Association game. Guard Shaun Livingston’s 3-pointer gave Golden State a 30-29 lead with 7:43 remaining in the second.

And if not for Barnes, it would have cost them a game. They shot a sizzling 82 percent (14-of-17) from the floor in the quarter for their best shooting mark in a quarter this season.

And in a way, Saturday’s effort against the Warriors was a microcosm of the season. He has really struggled the last 5 games shooting 31% from the field.

For all of the buzz and top-attraction billing that Stephen Curry generates, and it’s certainly deserved, Golden State boasts another All-Star in its backcourt as well.

The total has gone OVER in 9 of New York’s last 13 games when playing Golden State.

Golden State also remains ahead of pace on the Chicago Bulls’ 72-win team in 1995-96.

The defending champion Warriors have more road victories (21) than all but two clubs have at home (the Spurs, 25, and Thunder, 22).

Karl-Anthony Towns, a contender for Rookie of the Year, was the first player on the court in double figures and finished with 21 points and 13 rebounds for the Timberwolves. With a team that uses any excuse to find motivation and run all over teams, their next game against the New York Knicks, with a day of rest to think about their mistakes, doesn’t bode well for their opponents.

The Golden State Warriors were well on their way to another blowout victory over the hapless Philadelphia 76ers before the Sixers inexplicably stormed back and nearly won the game. More than one Warrior fumbled an easy entry pass for a turnover. The loss to the Raptors pushed the Knicks to a tough 0-6 without Anthony in the lineup this season.

Green was hard on himself after Saturday’s game, saying he played out of character by chasing a triple-double (he finished one assist shy) at the expense of the Warriors’ offense.

Thompson had eight of those points, including a pair of 3-pointers.
