Rams RB Gurley wins top offensive rookie award

On Saturday night, Gurley was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year at the NFL Honors, which has become a yearly tradition the Saturday night before the Super Bowl.

“I didn’t expect to do this well, but at the end of the day, it didn’t really surprise me”, Gurley said, per Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com. “I definitely appreciate everybody who voted for me”. Cooper’s work was universally praised, and many have high expectations for him as his career progresses. For now, he’ll sit back and enjoy his Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He finished the year third in the National Football League in rushing yards with 1,106 behind only Adrian Peterson and Doug Martin.

Gurley missed the Rams’ final game because of a foot injury, but last week he told ESPN that he felt 100 percent heading into the offseason.

In the process, Cooper destroyed Raider rookie receiving records while having the most receiving yards by a Raider since Jerry Rice had 1211 yards receiving in 2002. Despite that injury, Gurley was taken No. 10 overall in the NFL Draft and Seahawks’ general manager John Schneider has stated Gurley was the No. 1 player on the Seahawks’ draft board.

“It means a lot, coming off an ACL (tear) a year ago”. “It’s a gift from God. It’s a gift from God and I can’t say nothing else about it. I thank my teammates and my coaches for helping make this happen”.

His quality rookie year wasn’t quite enough to be the best of the year.

“This is for them”, Gurley said, clutching the award. “My biggest thing was to just try to get back and playing on the field and be healthy and to get this award is a blessing”. I couldn’t imagine this in a million years.
