President Obama to Honor 2015 NBA Champion Warriors at White House Visit
NBA MVP Stephen Curry and the reigning NBA champion Golden State Warriors visited the White House Thursday, as they were honored for their win in last season’s NBA Finals over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

He also poked fun at Warriors sharpshooting guard Steph Curry “clowning” on the court.
The Golden State Warriors got 51 points from superstar point guard Stephen Curry, 36 of which came in the first half, in a 134-121 victory here over the Washington Wizards, tying a record in the process. “Yeah, I knew I was within reach”.
Obama describes the Warriors as a “small-ball nuclear lineup”. And they play not just well, but they play well together. “I’ve never had the opportunity to go to the White House”.
“You hear the stories of families who have been affected by it, by gun violence”, Curry said before the Warriors’ game against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday.
The president also praised the Warriors’ charity work, including working with the My Brother’s Keeper initiative to promote mentoring nationwide, the newly launched Oakland Promise effort to help kids make it through college, and Curry’s anti-malaria “Nothing But Nets” campaign where he donates mosquito nets every time he makes a three-point shot. “We want you as soon as your duties are done here in the White House, we’d like you to be the leader of Dub Nation”.
Thursday marks Warriors head coach Steve Kerr’s fourth trip to the White House for a championship ceremony. However, one team with a chance to knock them off is the Oklahoma City Thunder, who will travel to ORACLE Arena for a huge matchup on Saturday night.
“It’s rare to be in the presence of guys from the greatest team in National Basketball Association history, so we’re pretty lucky today because we’ve got one of those players in the house”, Obama said. “Which, man, that doesn’t seem fair”, Obama said.
“Consider this a symbol of an offer that’s coming”, Kerr said as he presented Obama with the jersey and the president demonstrated his shooting form.

Twenty years after he and the Chicago Bulls won their record-setting 72nd game of the 1995-96 season against the Washington Bullets in Landover, Maryland, Kerr returned to the area as Warriors coach seeing a lot of similarities as far as the attention the teams received.
