There is no vaccine or treatment for Zika.

“The Zika virus is transferred by mosquitoes that are not indigenous to the Mahoning valley, actually to OH”, said Mahoning County Health Commissioner Patricia Sweeney.
If you have Zika, prevent mosquito bites for the first week of your illness.
The CDC said mosquitoes are the primary transmitter of Zika virus, but there has been one case of sexual transmission in Dallas.
“This is not a generalized public health measure, for the love of God”, he added, stressing both the seriousness of the discovery and reality that it was too soon to say how it could impact the epidemic. They do not address kissing.
“The science is not clear on how long the risk should be avoided”, the CDC said.
Head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci said, “I think we need to be careful that don’t we jump to any conclusions about transmissibility”, NPR reported.
Global health officials have said that the Zika virus, which has been linked to severe birth defects in thousands of babies in Brazil, is rapidly spreading in the Americas and could infect up to 4 million people. If the man lives in or has traveled to an active Zika area the couple may consider using condoms or abstaining from sex.
The CDC describes the Aedes mosquito as aggressive, attacking at all hours, and one that can bite five or more people in a single feeding, leaving only a tiny sting that victims barely notice.
Brazil is particularly concerned to fight an outbreak as the country grapples with a deep economic crisis and prepares to host the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in August, an event that draws huge crowds of athletes and spectators.
Reflecting concern over potential harm to foetuses, the CDC updated its guidelines on Friday for testing pregnant women who have traveled to affected areas, saying even those without symptoms should be tested after returning home. There were several cases in Texas of people traveling from Latin America as well as a case where a person who contracted Zika outside the US transmitted it to another person through sexual contact. Frieden said he had not yet seen that research and was cautious about the report. “Pregnant women and mothers with newborn babies who have visited affected countries should consult with their health care providers”.
Pouilly said that about a quarter of women had experienced physical or sexual violence in El Salvador in the past year.
A spokesman says the United Nations secretary-general supports the United Nations human rights chief’s call for an urgent review of laws restricting access to sexual and reproductive health services amid the Zika outbreak. “The key point is that women should have the choice and (make) informed decisions”, she said.

“Not everyone who wants a test will be able to get it, but we’re working as fast as we can”, Frieden said.
