It was earlier reported that 67 people were brutally killed by Boko Haram over the weekend in Dalori village of outskirts of Maiduguri and Konduga Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno state.
At least 86 bodies have been recovered from the scene, and another 62 are recovering from serious burns.
Mohammed was commanding officer when soldiers killed around 640 unarmed detainees after Boko Haram extremists attacked Giwa barracks in northeast Maiduguri city, according to Amnesty.
From the way and manner the insurgents operate, from the way they launch attacks on neighbouring Cameroon, Niger and Chad, it can only mean they have a foothold somewhere.
The Nigerian military may be doing their best, but they are yet to win the battle against the insurgency; for a terrorist group that is “technically defeated”, these attacks by Boko Haram are several hits too many.
Boko Haram has been attacking soft targets, increasingly with suicide bombers, since the military a year ago drove them out of towns and villages in northeastern Nigeria.
Last year, Boko Haram overtook ISIS as the world’s most deadly terrorist organization, according to data released by the Global Terrorism Index.
“We were seated outside our home shortly after the Isha prayer when we heard gunshots and within a few minutes the invaders had arrived”, Malam Masa Dalori, a community leader, told AFP. “I had to run and hide”, he said.
In addition to the motorcycles, some militants arrived in golf carts, according to Col. Mustapha Anka, a regional military spokesman, reports WDAM7. He said they have resorted to fighting with improvised explosives devices (IED) and remained a force only in Borno state.
‘When we came back in the morning the entire community has been razed.
