Virat Kohli inspires India to Twenty20 victory over Australia

Apart from skipper Aaron Finch’s 44, the rest of the Australian batting surrendered meekly against the Indian attack. From the video footing it was clear that the Australian had tried to disturb Kohli’s rhythm during his match winning knock at Adelaide. Debutants, Jasprit Bumrah and Hardik Pandya, although costly, took three and two wickets respectively to chip in for the win, as well.

Shane Watson (2-24) was the pick of the Australian bowlers in India’s tall score of 188 for three in the first T20 match and Warner welcomed his teammate’s return to the global fold.

“We know as the batters who are set and if you are losing wickets in clumps, you got to be the person to see through the end in the 20 overs”.

Steve Smith has fired back at Virat Kohli’s celebration after taking his wicket in the first T20 match of the series between India and Australia at the Adelaide Oval.

James Faulkner castled Raina but Kohli remained unbeaten after a chanceless 55-ball innings that included two sixes and nine boundaries. Dhoni also played his part as he made 34 off 42 balls to help his team win the match and avoid the whitewash. Nehra bowled an impressive first over conceding just 5 runs.

Captain MS Dhoni said Kohli’s secret was being able to calculate his risks.

“So it was my fault and I’ve just got to be better next time”.

After the game, Finch took the responsibility for the defeat as he got bogged down at one end, which led to more pressure on the batsmen at the other end, especially Warner and Smith. Steve Smith, however, teed off early to keep Australia in command.

“It’s fine to have a little bit of banter when you’re out in the field, but when someone is out I don’t think that’s really on”, added Australia’s Test and ODI captain. “It was a good batting strip, the ball came nicely on to the bat, I could play my shots”.

A similar sight was witnessed in Adelaide as the players prepared for their 1st T20I of the series against Australia. “Shikhar (Dhawan) might not have scored enough runs, but I think that’s a great sign for the Indian team because when they head back home in familiar conditions, with the ball also helping the spinners, then I think India certainly will be the team to watch out for”.

“We let ourselves down in the field and obviously an unbelievable innings by Virat – he’s hard to stop when he gets going”, Finch said.
