Nothing against Owens, who’s had a brilliant career in his own right, and deserves to be in the Hall of Fame some day soon.
Oh, and sorry for forgetting that the Hall if filled with nothing but choirboys, eh? “I’m just happy to be a part of it”.
As I understand it, there are former players, including Hall of Famers, who don’t believe Owens is worthy of the honor. Sure. Was he a bad teammate?
The NFL.com calls Atwater the 9th most feared tackle of all time.
Did his personality rub people the wrong way?
After all, Harrison isn’t the reason the Hall of Fame voting system is flawed, as it was already flawed well before him.
Terrell Owens (1996-2010): 1,078 receptions for 15,934 receiving yards and 153 receiving touchdowns in 15 seasons. “You get a gold jacket for putting it down on the field, and in the history of the game, there haven’t been many receivers who did that any better than T.O”.
“You know, what, I haven’t officially retired”, Owens emphatically said Saturday night after the Warriors-Thunder showdown in Oakland.
Owens went to six Pro Bowls and was an All-Pro selection five times.
Atwater played 10 seasons with the Broncos and one with the Jets before retiring.
“I think that’s the sentiment that I feel most strongly about, and I’ve communicated [it] when asked by the Hall of Fame writers, that, hey, I certainly would like if it was me, but I think this is something that needs to change”, Lynch said last month.
The final eight will be enshrined in May.
It is all just so petty.
