Angelil passed away on January 14th after a long battle with throat cancer.
She opened up about her 21-year marriage to the love of her life.
Dion canceled her upcoming Las Vegas concerts after Angelil’s death but is expected to resume her residency February 23. It is still not clear who will appear at the memorial, or if Celine will perform.
Celine didn’t sing at the two-hour event, but her music was played, including an instrumental version of her hit single “Because You Loved Me” and the 47-year-old star was reduced to tears when friend David Foster sang “The Color Of My Love”, a song which had been played at her wedding. “I feel his strength and his warmth reflected in all of you”, she told the audience.
In a message published in French on her website, Celine wrote: “We thank from the bottom of our heart all the people who have expressed their love for Rene during these trying times”.
Speaking towards the end of the evening, she added: “On behalf of my family, thank you again for being here with us this evening for this handsome tribute to Monday amour”.
“We have felt your love for René, and your prayers and compassion have helped us during this most hard time… more than you’ll ever know”. The service was live broadcast over the Internet so fans all over the world could watch.

Dion has had to endure what is likely the most frightful month this past few weeks, as not only her husband died, but her brother also died a few days later, also from cancer.
