Expect a mix of rain and snow overnight with snow increasing by 7 a.m. Temperatures are projected to remain in the low to mid-30s most of the day Monday, dipping into the upper to mid-20s overnight into Tuesday.

The National Weather Service warned that travel could be hazardous and urged drivers to allow extra time for their commutes and to use caution on the roads.

In between the two advisory areas – including Duluth and Superior – lighter snow totals are expected, but northwest winds may still gust to 35 miles per hour, the Weather Service reported. The Weather Service reported that lake-enhanced snowfall of 3 to 6 inches is expected as northwest winds move across the relatively warm waters of Lake Superior. Strong winds will cause blowing and drifting snow, and could lead to low visibility in spots, according to the NWS.

Thursday’s high dips to 31 and the mercury is expected to dip below 20 degrees at night.

Once the low moves off the coast late Tuesday sunny skies will prevail Wednesday, but temperatures will be holding below normal through the rest of the week.
