Mendeleev also made room on his table of elements to account for yet-to-be discovered elements based on his predictions. Three of these elements were discovered during his lifetime.

The Table was expanded and advanced over the years with further discoveries and different elements added to it. Its seventh row was finally completed in January this year. Born in 1834 in Tobolsk, Russia, Mandeleev is believed to have formulated the Periodic Table. According to Google’s description of the doodle which honors him, “his periodic table let elements fall into “periods” according to atomic mass and valence (the power that determines how they combine)”. Shortly after, his ideas were presented to the Russian Physico-chemical Society. Mendeleev also wrote about mixing alcohol and water, which led to vodka being a standard 40 per cent.
