Goals from Mesut Ozil and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain ended a run of four league games without a win and moved Arsenal level on points with second-placed Tottenham.

Unlike Arsenal, Bournemouth headed into the game in the middle of a good spell which had seen them unbeaten in their last five games in all competitions.

Arsenal re-established themselves as serious contenders for their first Premier League title since 2004 with a comfortable victory at lowly Bournemouth on Sunday. “We realised what Leicester did yesterday and we needed to close that gap and it was important to go back to winning ways”, Ramsey said.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, speaking to BBC Sport: “We had a strong start, with good finishing and we controlled the game”.

“We were much-improved in the second half without getting that goal to put them under pressure”, he said. It is the quality of work.

“It’s very important that, even when you have a rough spell which you will definitely have in a season, you stay positive, don’t panic, analyse everything in the right way and believe you have what it takes to win the league”.

“I have to accept that everybody can have different opinions”, Wenger said.
