Super Bowl 50: Fans’ reactions on Coldplay’s halftime performance are cold
Once Martin took to the stage, which doubled as a video screen pulsing with a swirl of colorful flowers and sunbursts, he and the band quickly ran through a few hits, including “Adventure of a Lifetime” while Martin jumped as though equipped with a pogo stick.

And she did. After Coldplay played parts of hit songs “Yellow” and “Viva La Vida” and Bruno Mars got the crowd dancing with “Uptown Funk”, the camera panned to Queen Bey on the field and she made a killer entrance. It was handsome display, but clearly just an opening act for the Mars/Bey takeover.
The tour is expected to support Queen Bey’s upcoming sixth studio album, the follow-up to her 2013 self-titled surprise release.
The song accompanied a montage of clips of half-time shows from previous Super Bowls, including performances by Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder and U2.
Before wrapping up one of the signature moments of America’s biggest sporting event, Beyonce and Mars joined Coldplay frontman Chris Martin for a quick re-visit to “Uptown Funk!“, ending on Coldplay’s uplifting ballad “Fix You”.
Bruno Mars and Beyonce perform during the Pepsi Super Bowl 50 Halftime Show at Levi’s Stadium on February 7, 2016 in Santa Clara, California.
Lady Gaga – all red (gown and eye glitter), blonde (the hair, of course) and blue (finger nails) – won cheers and plaudits for a sturdy, dignified rendition of the National Anthem to lead off Super Bowl 50. For the final number, all the performers came together to belt Coldplay’s feel-good “Up & Up”. The Super Bowl halftime show sent a powerful message – Coldplay’s rainbows aren’t just a sign of what we should be, but what we could.
