Denver Broncos Pound Panthers to Win Super Bowl 50

Fun-loving Cam Newton turned into sourpuss Cam in his postgame press conference after the Carolina Panthers lost Super Bowl 50 to the Denver Broncos.

Jackson recovered in the end zone to put Denver up 10-0 midway through the first quarter for the first fumble recovery for a touchdown in the Super Bowl since James Washington had one for Dallas in 1994 against Buffalo. The Broncos finished with a record of 15-4.

All zeroes won the first quarter pool.

Cam Newton also threw an interception, and was sacked six times in his first Super Bowl appearance, completing only 18 of 41 passes for 265 yards.

The cats faced off against the Denver Broncos at Levi’s Stadium in California for the Super Bowl.

Ironically, the game will likely be remembered as Peyton Manning’s farewell (should he retire) despite the fact that it was a perilous defense that helped him leave the game on top (he was just 13-for-23 for 141 yards and an interception).

Newton’s dream season ended with a nightmare performance. The Broncos’ defense, was simply fantastic, and they did enough to lead the Broncos to the victory in scoring a defensive touchdown and forcing four turnovers. The Broncos padded their 16-10 lead in the fourth quarter, after Miller’s second sack/forced fumble and C.J. Anderson’s two yard TD run.

But a key drop by Jerricho Cotchery early came two plays before Newton’s first fumble.

In true Manning fashion, the quarter-back landed a two-point conversion to extend the lead to 14 points as he passed to Bennie Fowler, and the celebrations had already begun as he left the field for the final time before lifting the Lombardo Trophy for the second time in his career.

Denver is the league’s best defensive team, giving up just 283.1 yards per game.

But the drive stalled and kicker Graham Gano’s 44-yard field goal attempt went off the right upright.

On 3rd and 10, Miller was able to get around the offensive line and strip Cam Newton.

Elway already had Miller, who missed the first six games of the 2013 season because of a drug suspension and that loss to Seattle because of an injured knee ligament.

The Panthers acted like they were playing with a buttered ball on Sunday. Two plays later, running back Jonathan Stewart ran the ball in, pulling the Panthers within three, 10-7, with 11:25 to play in the second quarter.

The previous longest punt return was by San Francisco’s John Taylor’s 45-yarder against Cincinnati in Super Bowl XXIII. But a holding penalty forced the Broncos to settle for a 33-yard field goal by McManus and a 13-7 lead.

They got one last chance when they got the ball back with 1:55 remaining in the half. They were contesting our receivers.
