Pressure now on title rivals, says Leicester’s Ranieri

The 29-year-old leads the Premier League scoring charts with 18 goals and has helped fire Leicester to the top of the table. Pellegrini has little time for the Pep question and prefers instead to point to City’s long catalogue of injuries.

Leicester manager Ranieri, whose even-tempered approach has been one of the highlights of his team’s unexpected success story, made light of their new and unfamiliar position.

Kasper Schmeichel maintained the Leicester City party line following his triumphant return to Man-chester City although the strain of Claudio Ranieri’s squad being obliged to write themselves off as possible champions may be beginning to tell.

“There has been a lot of talk about Neymar’s future recently, but I believe rumors of a move to Real Madrid are false”, Ronaldinho added. At this point last season, Leicester had already been mathematically eliminated from the title race, sitting rock bottom in the league. I think the first goal was very good for our confidence. Nicolas Otamendi and Martin Demichelis have their shortcomings as a partnership and things have not looked much better when either have played with Eliaquim Mangala. “We are ready to fight there”.

Pellegrini’s announcement that he will hand over to Pep Guardiola at the end of the season seemed to have had a negative effect on his players, who only had Sergio Aguero’s late consolation to show for their efforts. I’m just not sure that the guilt and shame they feel about letting their manager down is enough to win them any silverware. Count West Ham manager Slaven Bilic among those who believe the news will boost City’s play on the pitch. And we must recover as soon as we can after this defeat.

“Pressure, it could be a problem, but it is important we stay calm…”

The home side came close to pulling one back on fifty-five minutes with their best chance of the match, only for Kasper Schmeichel to tip wide Fernando’s near-post header.

“I think that [Guardiola’s move] is a great incentive for those kind of players to cross whatever ocean it is”.

Leicester’s last win over Manchester City was in the Premier League in 2003.

“We enjoy it and the fans must continue to dream”.
