Will J.R. Smith re-sign with the Cavs?
The Cleveland Cavaliers have been in spending spree mode this offseason with contract deals for Kevin Love, Iman Shumpert and LeBron James totaling the expenditures to over $100 million and now the ball club is considering to spend more on Matthew Dellavedova, Tristan Thompson and J.R. Smith. He has been a teammate of LeBron James’ since 2010 when James and Jones both played for the Miami Heat.

His role improved when Kyrie Irving went out in Game 1 of the National Basteball Association Finals and he did not disappoint.
Jones, 34, will likely sign for the veterans minimum, which is worth $1.5 million next season. He shot 36% from behind the arc on his way to averaging 4.4 points per game. “Right now, they give me the best opportunity to win”.
When Smith declined his .4 million dollar player option for the 2015-16 season on June 26, he had the mindset that he could get more money in free agency, either from the Cavaliers or another team. Yet if his heart is truly set on returning to the Cavaliers, he won’t have any choice but to accept the offer they tender him.
A restricted free agent, Dellavedova could possibly move to another franchise in search of a better offer than what he’s getting from the Cavs at the moment, but the Cavs have the right to match any offer he gets. The deal allows James to opt out once again next year when the National Basteball Association salary cap is expected to spike.
The deal includes a $24 million player option for 2016-17, said the people who spoke on condition of anonymity because James has not yet signed the contract.
But the Cavs’ recent behavior suggests they’re perfectly happy operating outside those conventions, which makes re-signing Smith-though costly, seemingly unnecessary and perhaps even a little nuts-somehow logical.
Another player that the Cavs want to bring back is J.R. Smith.

Then there’s the issue of the luxury tax, costing the Cavs more and more as their salary roll increases. This is all in hopes to bring the first National Basteball Association Title home to Cleveland. Or could the Cavs have resorted to Smith since the Brooklyn Nets did say that they planned to keep Johnson after buying out Deron Williams’ contract? All in all the contracts and the taxes will pay off, if in June 2016 there is a trophy in the hands of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
