Miitomo is described by Nintendo as being a “social experience”, one that uses the Wii’s Mii character system to create a world of safe online chit chat.

It’s now been announced that Miitomo will this March, with pre-registering set to begin on the 17th February in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
A new My Nintendo rewards programme will also launch alongside Miitomo. Nintendo will offer a special Miitomo bonus to anyone who signs up for a Nintendo Account between February 17 and launch.
Nintendo has outlined plans for the launch of its first mobile game: Miitomo.
“My Nintendo will be a brand new and unique service from Nintendo, which has been deploying its business on dedicated game systems and will now expand its business to include apps for smart devices”.
Nintendo’s first foray into smartphone apps is nearly upon us.
Miitomo, a Mii avatar-based chat and photo app, is expected to launch in mid-March. Buying Wii U and 3DS games digitally will get you Gold Points, and you can redeem these for discounts on more games. Through being an obedient consumer, you’ll be able to accrue two different types of currency: Gold Points and Platinum Points.
Nintendo says that more than 200 million Miis have been created worldwide, so the potential audience for Miitomo is substantial.
It wasn’t what fans were expecting, but a new report hints that the next app will be more in line with what the Nintendo faithful would want from the company. Under the deal, Nintendo is partnering with Japanese mobile game company DeNA to develop games for mobile devices using some of Nintendo’s most beloved gaming characters, including Super Mario, Zelda and Pokemon, as it works to reinvigorate its sagging games business.

The now-defunct Club Nintendo rewarded Nintendo game purchases with “coins”, which could be spent on digital titles as well as select physical goodies. “Miitomo users with a Nintendo Account will be able to take advantage of My Nintendo to enhance their experience”.
