Donald Trump looks for a win in New Hampshire primary

New Hampshire is expecting up to four inches on the white stuff through midnight when the polls actually open at some locations. A voter marks his ballot in the first-in-the-nation presidential primary Tuesday.

Both Trump and Sanders went into last week’s Iowa caucus looking for wins, with Trump holding a small but significant lead in final polls and Sanders polling close to even with Hillary Clinton. Ted Cruz each had nine votes.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and New Jersey’s Chris Christie all say they are going on to SC, but if they don’t place in the top tier, their fundraising will evaporate, and there will be tremendous pressure on them to get out. Bill Clinton did it in 1992, and Hillary Clinton rebounded here after losing Iowa in 2008.

Sitting in Section 223, Tom Jones of Nashua, New Hampshire, cheered wildly as Trump went through his speech. Still, he is relying most on his own popularity – he’s called himself “the product” – and his commanding lead in the polls. “I’d bring back waterboarding”, Trump said.

The field of candidates vying for a second place finish behind him is finally beginning to separate, according to the survey. Trump continued to attack Bush (“He’s a sad person who has gone absolutely insane”, Trump told CNN) because – well, because he’s always been Trump’s favorite target. In New Hampshire, it took him until Monday to participate in voter question-and-answer sessions in intimate settings, the kinds of events that are a staple here. Can she make a stronger-than-expected showing in Bernie Sanders’ backyard and regain some of the momentum lost after her narrow Iowa victory.

Clinton was shouldering renewed troubles amid talk of a possible campaign reshuffling. “We’re going to take stock, but it’s going to be the campaign that I’ve got”. As the big primary state votes roll in in March and April, he will be hard-pressed to keep a voter lead.

What bubbles out are frustrations with female voters backing Sanders despite the prospect of electing the first female president.

Behind Clinton’s upbeat demeanour, however, are growing concerns within her campaign about her standing with young people, who are flocking to Sanders.

Trump has similarly in the past amplified derogatory comments while at the same time insisting that it’s not him who made the comment, or that he didn’t really mean it. The use of the term “pussy” represents an escalation in his rhetoric against Cruz, who beat him in Iowa, though Trump has been known to use profanity in public at times.

The stakes for each member of this quartet are enormous.

Rubio came into New Hampshire with a head of steam.
