The Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for a suicide auto bombing near a police officers’ club in the Syrian capital, Damascus that killed at least 10 people.

A vehicle bomb struck close to a market and a police club in the north of the Syrian capital Damascus on Tuesday, causing casualties, state media reported.

The New York based human rights watchdog Monday called on the International Syria Support Group, a group of 17 countries and three organizations that is scheduled to meet on February 11, to make protecting civilians and ending indiscriminate attacks, including with cluster munitions, a key priority.

State-run television earlier said that a “number of citizens” had been killed and injured in the attack.

HRW said some of the recent attacks using cluster munitions occurred near Nubul and Zahra.

Turkey’s prime minister is calling on the worldwide community to speak out against Russian Federation for “mercilessly bombing civilian targets” in Syria.

Opposition activists have said that Russian Federation has been using cluster bombs since the start of its aerial campaign in Syria on September 30.
