The poll includes interviews with a random sample of 887 adult residents of New Hampshire, including 362 who plan to vote in the Republican presidential primary and 363 who say they plan to participate in the Democratic primary.

Under this scenario, the loyal Trump plurality gives him disproportionate power not just in SC but in the massive “SEC primary” that follows one week later.

While speaking about GOP hopeful Ted Cruz at a rally in Manchester on Monday, Trump repeated an audience member’s description of the Texas senator.

Trump appeared to be leading the rest of the Republican field by an even larger margin.

But he was significantly ahead of the fourth and fifth place candidates in the poll, Ohio Governor John Kasich at 10 percent and former Florida Governor Jeb Bush at 7 percent.

New Hampshire voters go to the polls Tuesday, and they will resolve a lot of questions.

In his final swing through the state Monday, Christie urged voters to pick a candidate who “has the maturity, and the steadiness, and the aggression to protect our country and put us back in the right spot”. The moderate Kasich could surprise in a state where 44 percent of voters are independents who tend care more about ideas than party affiliations. Some party leaders believe both Trump and Cruz are unelectable in the general election, especially if Clinton is the Democratic nominee.

Sanders, cruising toward a likely first win in New Hampshire, resisted calling more attention to the accusations being leveled by Clinton’s campaign.
