Westchester County Police say Sunday officers were called to the county jail in Valhalla around 3 p.m.

The inmates were reportedly found together in one wing of the prison complex.

Multiple inmates reportedly overdosed on drugs at the Westchester County jail on Sunday, bringing emergency medical personnel to the facility.

The incident started at 2:51 p.m. Sunday when an inmate at the jail was in medical distress, O’Leary said.

The jail houses male and female inmates over the age of 16. Aide was provided by corrections officers.

The global Business Times reports that at least one person is in critical condition. “We were told to leave”, Joseph Saunders, 61, of White Plains told the Journal News.

Sgt. Bill Flynn told the website: ‘Some may be a little worse than others. Police are still investigating what drugs were involved in the overdose.

‘That’s the speculation and that’s one of the possibilities. They told us somebody smoked something and passed out, ‘ he added. The jail also has a penitentiary division that houses men sentenced to terms of one year or less.
