De Bruyne out for 10 weeks

Meanwhile Pellegrini reinforced his view that City have more to complain about than Everton following their Capital One Cup semi-final.

MANCHESTER, England (AP) – Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne says he’ll be out for action for approximately 10 weeks after injuring his ankle and knee in Manchester City’s League Cup semifinal win over Everton on Wednesday.

“I’m sure if we weren’t already winning 2-1 we could score the second goal without any problem”. That is why it hurts. “It is very hard to play so many games”. “That is hurtful and unfair”. We should take this as a real inspiration to achieve something special this season because the players don’t deserve to get another huge call against us.

He could also struggle to be fit for the Champions League quarter-finals in April should City get that far.

Jagielka was unhappy with the response he got when he asked Atkinson why a critical City goal, after Raheem Sterling ran the ball out of play, was allowed to stand. During stoppage time he appeared to catch his studs in the turf and twist his knee as he was challenged by Everton defender Ramiro Funes Mori.

I’m optimistic he won’t be out for the rest of the season.

De Bruyne has been in great form since his £55m move from Wolfsburg in the summer, with the 24-year-old scoring 11 times and setting up 13 goals in 30 games for the Citizens this season. There was also a clear penalty on Jesus Navas and the referee didn’t whistle. And tonight (Wednesday) the first goal was a clear foul against Aguero. City lost 4-1 at home to Liverpool when their paths last crossed in November.

For Saturday’s trip to Aston Villa in the FA Cup fourth round Pellegrini remains without Vincent Kompany, Eliaquim Mangala, Samir Nasri, Aleksandar Kolarov and Wifried Bony.

“We won because we scored three goals and Everton had just one chance… we deserve to be in the final”.

The player’s representative Patrick De Koster said: “Kevin is sad”.

In the League Cup, they have the final against Liverpool on February 28th, then they have their Champions League knockout round clash against Dynamo Kiev on March 15th, followed by the Manchester derby five days later.
