Terry: No communication with Chelsea over new deal

“We have made a training plan which he is doing now, training at least once but most of the days twice, which means he is getting his fitness but not full fitness yet”, he said, ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game against Manchester United.

Some Chelsea fans wore masks of Terry’s face, others displayed banners backing him and there were chants of “sign him up” and “we want you to stay” that would have been heard by owner Roman Abramovich, who was in the Stamford Bridge stands.

“He is skillful, he is technically very good, and he is ambitious which is normal for me”.

“It’s a hard one”, added Terry, who made his debut for Chelsea in 1998 and is two games away from making 700 appearances for the club. The club’s the most important thing, there’s no communication between myself and the club at the minute.

Terry, playing his first match at Stamford Bridge since revealing he will not be offered a new contract by the club was given huge support by Blues fans.

The veteran defender recently announced that he will be leaving the club at the end of the season because his current deal has not been renewed.

Chelsea’s interim manager Guus Hiddink was reluctant to discuss the matter after yesterday’s game.

“We have dealt with this issue last week”, said Hiddink.

The captain thanked the supporters at the end.

The 21-year-old wrote on Twitter: “Scan today has shown I injured my ACL. We have the best fans in the world – what they have done and given to me since I was a 17-year-old boy – I will never forget it and the memories will live with me forever”.

“His desire is there and he’s been showing that desire for Chelsea for a long time”.

“You can go and spend all the money you want, spend £50million to £60m and go and buy the best centre-back out there, but he’s not going to come into the Chelsea dressing room with the same influence”. He replied: “No, I don’t think so”.

Van Gaal may have bristled at the talk about his future, but Chelsea captain John Terry was more forthcoming when questioned about his.
