Trump, Sanders prevail in NH

And the win for Sanders completes his rise from presidential long shot to legitimate challenger for the Democratic nomination against Hillary Clinton.

Bernie Sanders won the New Hampshire Democratic primary after convincing voters that he was more honest and trustworthy than former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, according to early results of the exit poll conducted by Edison Research for The Associated Press and television networks.

“Maybe we are turning a page on the dark side of American politics because tonight, the light overcame the darkness”. Both New Hampshire and Iowa are overwhelmingly white states that are far less diverse than the nation as a whole.

FOX News is reporting that Donald Trump and Bernie Sanders are leading the New Hampshire Primaries with 3% of the GOP reporting.

When asked about their view of the way the federal government is working, 48 percent of Republican New Hampshire primary voters were dissatisfied but not angry, and 43 percent were angry. Trump has said he wasn’t even familiar with the term “ground game”, but has now invested more in get-out-the-vote infrastructure in New Hampshire.

The candidates were out in force Tuesday, making their last-minute pitch to voters at diners and polling sites.

Third place has been a tight race between former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Texas Senator Ted Cruz, and Florida Senator Marco Rubio. “The same is true in SC and in Nevada”. Almost half of Republicans said they feel betrayed by politicians from the Republican Party.

If Rubio and the governors finish in a pack Tuesday, it’s likely to frustrate Republican Party elites who are eager to have a more mainstream candidate to challenge Trump and Cruz. He gleefully repeated an audience member’s description of Cruz as a “pussy” at a Monday campaign event because the senator from Texas said he was uncomfortable with torturing the country’s military enemies.

Both Democrats and Republicans agree that a candidate’s position on the issues is more important than their leadership qualities.

When is second place a victory?

The snowstorm that blew through New Hampshire and blanketed much of the state with inches of powdery stuff appeared to have little impact on Tuesday’s primary turnout, as clerks around the state reported a surge of interest. Polls opened at either 6 or 7 a.m. ET and the last polls close at 8 p.m. ET, with some closing earlier, at 7 p.m. ET. “Let me tell you the place went wild”.

Trump, though, told Fox News that Bush is “weak” on the issues of immigration and more.

But he is one of several candidates who claim to have detected a shift in the public mood since Saturday’s debate when he attacked Mr Rubio. Seventy-two-year-old Republican John Starer said he made up his mind about five minutes before he cast his ballot for Cruz.

“Obviously, we want to do well here in New Hampshire and get as many delegates as we can. And I think people just kind of connect with that”, Kasich said.
