Chipotle, based in Denver, has been in crisis mode ever since dozens of customers got sick from E. coli and the norovirus.

The restaurant’s stock is trading significantly lower than its record high a year ago, and the company is facing a federal criminal investigation.

“I feel like the people who eat here already are confident in the product that they get”.

Chipotles all across the nation were closed Monday until 3 p.m.in order to educate its thousands of employees about food borne illnesses, according to a press release from the company. The meeting is one of several steps Chipotle is taking to revitalize its operations after a series of health scares that devastated sales in the fourth quarter.

More than 50,000 Chipotle employees attended the mandatory nationwide meeting by way of Twitter and Periscope.

By signing up for a free burrito, Chipotle is allowed to collect personal data, along with “aggregated data”, including a customer’s web use history, the company’s privacy policy stated.

While Chipotle might never be able to find out what actually caused the massive E. coli outbreak that affected its stores previous year, the company was able to determine something very significant. After all, the popular food chain is trying to win back customers.

Chipotle is offering free burritos tonight, Monday, February 8, if your lunch plans were ruined due to the chain’s late opening today.

Months later, no definitive source for the outbreaks has been discovered.

The meeting will go over an improved “farm-to-fork” food safety program, which the chain implemented in January.
