Red Lobster enjoys sales surge after mention in Beyonce song
The sexual shoutout to Red Lobster in her song apparently got people really hungry for some rock lobster tail!

The travel-size hot sauce industry is much harder to get a bead on, but we expect news within the week. The company saw a 33 percent sales jump on February 7, the day Beyonce performed “Formation” during the Super Bowl Halftime show.
Beyoncé’s new single “Formation” trended on social media as soon as it was released on Saturday (Feb. 6). The previous record for a venue was 6.2 terrabytes, set at the University of Phoenix Stadium during last year’s Super Bowl.
The pop culture spotlight is no doubt a welcome change for Red Lobster, which had been suffering declines in sales. Red Lobster did not immediately respond to a request for comment. The restaurant chain, which was acquired by Golden Gate Capital in 2014, had just started its annual Lobsterfest promotion.
Red Lobster’s first acknowledgment of Beyonce referencing it was in a pun-filled tweet, which wasn’t received well.
Red Lobster, based in Orlando, Florida, has more than 700 locations in the USA and Canada.

The restaurant’s spokesperson Erica Ettori told Business Insider Red Lobster is attributing the sales increase to “the Beyoncé bounce”. “It tweeted that, “‘Cheddar Bey Biscuits’ has a nice ring to it, don’t you think?” Some Twitter users slammed the chain for dropping the ball when it came to capitalizing on the epic mention, because it took almost eight hours for the Cheddar-Bey tweet to surface.
