Sanders victory over Clinton is overwhelming

Trump and Sanders entered New Hampshire as the favorites in their respective party races, the Republican and Democratic primaries.

“Our disappointment is not on you, it’s on me”.

On the Republican side, Ohio Governor John Kasich staked an early claim to second place, a potentially critical result for him as the GOP works out which mainstream candidate could successfully mount a challenge against the billionaire tycoon.

He scored big by carrying a range of demographic and ideological groups with more than 30% of the vote, according to exit polls. The true test will come in states that are demographically more diverse than New Hampshire or Iowa, like the upcoming primary in SC.

Early exit polls showed Trump drew support from voters looking for an outsider and from those who made up their minds a while ago. Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Texas Senator Ted Cruz had hoped to secure the second place spot and justify continuing in the race.

“Tonight, we have sent a message that will echo from Wall Street to Washington, from ME to California”, he said.

“We’ve decided that we’re going to go home to New Jersey tomorrow and we’re going to take a deep breath”, Christie said Tuesday evening.

The New Hampshire secretary of state’s office said that police cruisers have marked the end of the line of vehicles waiting to get into Merrimack High School on Tuesday night.

Next up is Nevada for the Democrats and SC for the Republicans on February 20.

“You started it”, he said after thanking the people of New Hampshire for catapulting him to a huge win.

It’s also important to note that Sanders and Trump held much stronger leads in the New Hampshire pre-primary polls than Trump and Clinton did in the Iowa polls.

“Wow, wow, wow”, Trump told supporters after declaring victory.

“I think America really needs a good shake-up”, Goldenberg said. “We’re not going to let it happen”.

The win comes after a narrow loss to Clinton in Iowa.

With Trump cruising to victory as expected, the interest in the Republican race centred on who would win the second place.

“When we stand together, we win”.

After Sanders was declared the victor, Clinton immediately conceded, and her campaign circulated a memo that maintained confidence in a Clinton nomination, according to The Hill.
