Crimson Doubles isn’t your typical Doubles Crucible mode though.

Bungie only teased the update prior to going live, saying that they’ll be making some Special Ammo changes to the game in the Destiny February update.

We can see that the Destiny 2.1.1 update is now live and out for download on PS4 and Xbox One. 25 Legendary Marks will be awarded to all Guardians who log in between Wednesday, February 10th and February 16th regardless of whether they compete in Crimson Days events or not. “A Crucible Fireteam, forging bonds of teamwork and friendship that even death only strengthens”. Two players working as a team must win five rounds to win. (There’s no matchmaking.) When your teammate dies in this mode, you’ll get a buff called Heartbroken that boosts your stats and makes you reload more quickly.

Lord Shaxx has an all new Quest and Bounties for Guardians seeking to forge a bond within Crimson Doubles. This might help Bungie bring in some old players back in the game as well as score some new ones, although this will only be true in the short run. The Crimson Connection buff lasts for 30 minutes.

Last but not least there’s a handful of Holiday emotes available from Tess Everis that’ll let you fist bump your partner after a hard fought win, or simply start dancing to Drake’s patented “Hotline Bling” track.

As always, the emotes are only available for a limited time in some cases, but once purchased the player can use them always. Players of Crimson Doubles will have a chance at a new emblem, new Shaders and new Ghost Shells that can drop at up to 320 Light.
