Hiddink: Chelsea must keep watch of deadly Anthony Martial

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal angrily derided the latest reports about his future after his team were pegged back in injury time in a 1-1 draw at Chelsea.

A win for the Red Devils won’t see them move into the Premier League top four, but it will see them close the gap on Arsenal, while a victory for the Blues may see them move up to 12th.

Chelsea left it late but finally equalised when Costa rounded Spain teammate David De Gea to score as they drew at home for the fourth straight league match, leaving them in 13th place on 30 points, 17 points from the Champions League places.

Premier League champions Chelsea welcome Manchester United to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

LONDON (AP) – A second stalemate of the season between Chelsea and Manchester United saw the fallen powers slip further from relevance in this unusual Premier League season.

When it was put to him that United have not publicly denied the reports, Van Gaal replied: “Why do they have to deny?”

Costa rescued a point in the 91st minute after rounding De Gea following Cesc Fabregas’ pass. It’s a nasty away game, I think, and one that’s not so easy.

United dictated large parts of the game, making an assertive start at Stamford Bridge, passing with precision and speed across the field.

Two players who have particularly shone in United’s recent improvement are forwards Anthony Martial and Wayne Rooney.

Thibaut Courtois was called upon twice in the opening 15 minutes, comfortably gathering low-range efforts from Cameron Borthwich-Jackson and Michael Carrick.

“I said before when we were one point from the relegation zone, of course our target must still be the fourth place for Champions League, but at that moment I also said we have to start winning”, Hiddink said.

“It was a must-win game for us today”.

“We have to battle on though, keep going and play something like we have been doing over the last few weeks and then see where that takes us”. Arsenal had failed to win in four league games and not scored in three of them until traveling to Bournemouth. Leicester have made a big impression in the last week after their results.
