A Sonic The Hedgehog movie is set to be released in 2018 and it will be made in conjunction with Sony Pictures.
“Sega Sammy Group is now planning with Sony Pictures to create a live-action and animation hybrid “Sonic the Hedgehog” movie scheduled for release in 2018″, Satomi told The Worldfolio. Does this mean Sonic will be animated, but other characters like Dr. Eggman will be a real human?
Either way, it gives me the flawless excuse to share the brilliant intro movie to Sonic CD (the raptastic JP/EU original, naturally – not the poppy U.S. version).
Get into the Sonic-inspired spirit by checking out footage from the hedgehog’s first video-game-to-small-screen adaptation The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog in the video clip below.
Wait a second, a live action and animated hybrid movie?

There aren’t many other bits and pieces of information to share about the project just yet, but it’s not surprising that there’s such a big project planned for Sonic. “Along with our wonderful creative partners at Marza, we’re looking to capture everything that generations of fans know and love about Sonic while also growing his audience wider than ever before”.
