Hiddink all but concedes Champions League qualification

Guus Hiddink has revealed he had received lucrative offers to work in the Chinese Super League, prior to taking over at Chelsea. PSG FAVOURITES Since Chelsea sacked Jose Mourinho in December, they have played nine league matches, winning three and drawing six, which is not Champions League form. My personal opinion is that the FA Cup is the best chance to win silverware this season but no-one thought that Chelsea would win the Champions League in 2012 so who knows what might happen? The Chelsea boss has lost just one Premier League game in his 20 matches at the club (W13 D6 L1). Everything is to do with the ambition of the club, and loyalty is secured by contracts. “We like to pressure him but we must be careful not to go over the top”.

“But sometimes you can not always be on top and then you have to regroup and rethink your strategy.

We have made a training plan which he is doing now, training at least once but most of the days twice, which means he is getting his fitness but not full fitness yet”, he said, ahead of Sunday’s Premier League game against Manchester United. Hiddink also fears a repeat of last season’s Champions League elimination by PSG, who knocked out a far more confident and in-form Chelsea side on away goals at the same stage. “It depends on whether you are on the first part or the later part of your career”.

“Of course, when you travel around the world, the Premier League is so attractive, attracting a lot of people”.

“(And) clubs in England can not complain about having no income in the near future”.

The 69-year-old also admitted even he has been approached to manage in the Chinese Super League.
